CDOT can put the traction law into effect on any state highway, including I-25 over Monument Hill. Your vehicle then needs 4WD or AWD with good tread, tires marked for snow (M+S or the mountain-snowflake symbol), or chains. Tread must be at least 3/16 of an inch.
If CDOT or the State Patrol closes I-25, no tow truck can get through until it reopens. We will tell you plainly what we can do and when, instead of a time we cannot meet.
